Landscaping
Posted by Vicky
I have lived in the same house for about 25 years. For most of those year I have not taken much interest in the yard. Many years ago when we first moved here, I did enjoy a little bit of gardening. That soon went by the wayside. The yard became filled with children's equipment, pools, a basketball court, sandbox and more. As the children grew so did our trees, bushes and shrubbery. A couple of years ago we decided it was time to pull out some of the old overgrown bushes and trim back some of the trees. So last summer I ended up replanting and contouring the landscaping around the house. I continue to add new plants and flowers. This spring I am waiting to see how all of the new foliage is going to do. With the cold temperatures we have been receiving, it may take longer than usual. I am just hoping that the plants are firmly rooted.
Coffee
Posted by Vicky
When I have the time to, I sure do enjoy sitting down with a cup of coffee. I have tried to cut back and do not drink as much of it as I use too. Often my husband and I will take a trip to a larger city for the day and when we do, we love to grab a turtle frappe cappuccino, for the road. Well, now there is talk of a Cabin Coffee possibly coming to our little town. That would be so awesome! I drink strictly decaf, but love that chocolate and carmel flavor. When the weather turns cold it tastes so good.

Trampolines
Posted by Vicky

Recently I received a forward titled "Why Trampolines Are So Dangerous in Minnesota". I don't always open forwards, but this title caught my eye. I was curious as to why trampolines could be anymore dangerous in Minnesota then anywhere else in the country. I was quite surprised to open it and see what they were talking about. I found it entertaining and interesting. I think that deer are extremely beautiful. I enjoy seeing them. I don't know however, if this is the best resting spot for them. :)
Thunderstorms

Today we took off from Texas to head back home. We try to drive a good two thirds of the way the first day of travel. Things were going pretty well and the sun was shinning. Traffic through the city was as usual. It takes us about an hour and then we are on the north side of Fort Worth. The rest of the trip is not to bad. As we approached Kansas City, the sky grew dark. Hugh clouds rolled in. As the rain began we didn't really think much of it, but then it began to hail. We had prayed for protection and safety that morning. As the hail started to fall out of the sky, we noticed an over pass just a stretch away. We pulled under it and waited for the hail to stop. Thank the Lord there was no damage to our vehicle or to us. We had a great trip!
Texas

We decided we needed some time away, so here we are in Texas. The true reason for this trip was to visit family. Our oldest son Josh and his wife Diana and our grandson Emry live down south. We hadn't seen them since Christmas, which was way to long for us. It has been fun to see them all and the time is going way to fast. We are going to a Rangers Game today, which will be a lot of fun! I enjoy baseball games. The ball field is only minutes away, so the drive won't be bad. It will be little Emry's first ball game and we get to be there. :) Family is so precious. Being a Mom
Posted by Vicky
Recently I was thinking about what it meant to be a mom. It is definitely one of the most valuable parts of my life. I feel very blessed to have been given three wonderful children. In raising them they have taught me many things and continue to with each passing day. When they were younger I quickly learned that I would need to work on patience. I would step back and take a deep breath and face a situation when I had become calmer and felt ready too. That speaking softly and not loudly would develop into children who in turn would also speak softly and not loudly. A screaming mom would raise screaming children. It seemed to work. I am still learning though like most. There is no perfect parenting book and we all seem to learn along the way. It is incredible the unconditional love I feel for my children and they also demonstrate to me. We have all made mistakes, but are there for one another. I have often thought about how much greater our God's love is towards us. If we can love, protect and want only the best for our children, we know that God our Father has a greater love for us and only wants the best in our lives. Prayer is so important. I pray that my children will seek to know Him better and their desire will be to walk in His ways. There are so many lessons to be learned through parenting. Take some time and see what you might find in your life. Labels: Children, Faith, Family, Home, Motherhood, Parenting
Working
Posted by Vicky
I have worked for a local Dental Office for almost twenty years now. For the past three months one of my co-workers has been off on maternity leave. I usually work four days a week with Fridays off. I have been working everyday with no time off and I'm so ready for a vacation. Thank goodness this gal returned last week, so I will be taking some time off. I am also going to start taking every other Wed. off from work. I would like to have life slow down a bit and take sometime for us (me and my husband). It sure will be nice to take a moment for me. :) Labels: Career
About Me :)
Posted by Vicky
Just today I was thinking about how busy life is and how stressful it can be at times. I tend to get a little overwhelmed with the chores at home, working, doing for my children, etc. I even find myself forgetting things and becoming increasingly unorganized. I try to stay positive though, as the tongue is a very powerful thing! So, as I begin to feel down on how overwhelmed I feel with the busyness of life, I quickly turn to God! He is SO good! I recently opened up my devotional today, and wouldn't you know I turned to a section on The Cluttered Life. It quickly became apparent to me that Satan would love to try and distract me from all God has for me. He wants to get me down and lose focus on what's really important. He wants nothing more than to rob me of my joy and to have me feel stressed out and overwhelmed....but I will not let that happen! That's when we must pray that the Lord give us peace and guidance. We need to lean on Him and He will give us strength and joy! Thank you Lord!
1 Corinthians 14:33, NKJV
This blog is going to be the ramblings of a Wife, Mom, and Grammy who loves the Lord with all her heart and enjoys time spent with family more than anything. Although life can get busy, I’ve learned through the years that it’s important to take a moment and just enjoy all that God has blessed us with!! I find blogging to be an enjoyable hobby, one where I can share on things that are important and of interest to me, and hopefully be an encouragement to others along the way. I hope you enjoy my random musings and visit back often.
