If you have read my blog for very long, you will see that I enjoy spending time on my computer. I use it for all kinds of different projects and writings. I shop, blog, email, research, print pictures and more. The internet is amazing. I think that you could find just about anything you are wanting with just a click. Over time we tend to use quite a bit of ink. Before I know it the computer is warning me of a low ink cartridge. I must say, they have gotten much cheaper since the days of our very first printer. Thank goodness for that, because I am often printing of something I need or want.

Cake

One of my favorite cakes is a chocolate with cream filling and white frosting. I don't make it very often because it is time consuming. My mom's 75th birthday is this weekend, so I decided I would surprise her and make that cake. It had been awhile since I had made it and I had forgotten that I like to double the cream filling. So there isn't quite as much filling in it as I would have liked, but I think it should still be a hit. My dog Zoe has been following me around. She always hopes I will drop something when I am working in the kitchen. She did end up getting to try out a little bit of the filling and frosting. She should be happy. :)

Flooring

I am so excited! We have recently re-done our bathroom. When doing that, we decided to put down new linoleum. It is a tile looking style. I have been more then pleased with it and thought about having it laid in the kitchen and entryways also. We received an estimate and decided to move forward. I arrived home tonight to a message from our floor layers. They can come as soon as next week to do the job! That's great! It seems that plumbers, carpenters, floor layers and others are so busy that a person usually has to wait awhile before they are able to receive what they are wanting. We have been very pleased with the Christianson Business. They have done all that they have said they would do. I am looking forward to our new flooring. Labels: Home
Diet Pill

Why do so many people have to struggle with being over weight? I have found since I am getting older that this has begun to become an issue for me also. I find myself discussing it with friends, family and co-workers. I'm not alone in this fight, so many want to find a diet pill that works. I think we all know that it also takes exercise and a healthy daily diet. I just need to convince myself of that fact also.
Relaxing

I would love to relax, but it can be difficult when the humidity is very high and the temperature is in the 90's. It is literally feeling like an oven outside. My husband decided to mow the lawn tonight. I didn't think it was such a great idea. He has recently hurt his back which only adds to the discomfort of doing the job. I sometimes wonder why we live where we do, but then remember, we do have a choice and this is where we have been for many years. I suppose family plays a huge role in this equation and of course our jobs have as well. I feel that this must be where we belong.

Professional Photography

We have two grandchildren. They are the best. We love spending as much time as we can with them. Our grandson lives many states away, so needless to say we do not get to see him near as much as we do our grand daughter. They recently had professional pictures taken of him. They gave us the website so we could see them all for ourselves. There are around 300 pictures. They are so good. It's hard to decide which ones we want to order. Unfortunately they are quite costly, so we will have to go through them and pick our favorites. It will not be an easy task, but it will be a fun one. This photographer is unique in her style. Moving Boxes

Moving can be a very stressful time for everyone involved. Often it is a new job that will cause relocation for a family. Our oldest son and his family are seriously looking at moving. They are hoping to do so in the very near future. I can't even imagine how much work it would be, having to put everything we own into moving boxes. We have been in the same house for over 25 years. You tend to accumulate a lot of stuff over time. I'm sure glad it will be them moving and not us.
Holidays

The Holidays are a very special time of year. It is a time of sharing and seeing our loved ones all together in one place. It becomes more difficult as the years go by to see that actually take place. As children grow they tend to scatter. You may have part of your family together and some that live far away. Well, soon we are hoping to have our son, his wife and our grandson moving back to the Midwest where they feel they belong. They are very excited about this prospect and are also hoping it will happen soon. They miss family and the family misses them. I will have to keep you updated on the progress. Parkersburg Iowa

This past spring a mile wide tornado tore through a small Iowa community, destroying one third of it's town and killing two people in the process. This tornado left a destructive path of almost 50 miles. With losing 200 homes and 21 businesses along with a vast amount of damage to their High School, City Hall, bank and more, this small town is coming together to rebuild. My husband and I drove through Parkersburg today and we were amazed at the rebuilding that has all ready taken place. There are still obvious signs of what has happened with piles of debris scattered throughout this stretch of town. The wind-stripped trees were still standing and in this devastated area only foundations could be found. A couple of local restaurants that we use to stop at, were no longer standing. You could no longer tell where they had been. It is really sad how destructive a tornado can be in just minutes. Life changed as we knew it. Here are a couple of pictures we had taken today.

One of my favorite ways to relax and take some time for me, is to vacation. I love sandy beaches, beautiful sunsets and wonderful locations. I was recently browsing a website for the Puerto Penasco Mexico area looking for rocky point rentals. They offer rocky point condos, rocky point houses and more. You can find the latest weather for this area, which looks to be fairly mild and nice most of the year. There is information available about Puerto Penasco, restaurants, maps and more. Activities for these rentals range from para sailing, banana boat rides, sunset cruises, fishing and of course shopping. It sounds like a wonderful place to relax and unwind. Twins

Do you know anyone that is a twin? I happen to have a twin sister. It was very special and unique growing up. You are never really alone. You always have this awesome friend by your side (whether it is literally or not). It can have it's down falls also. You are known as the twins to many and often feel as though you don't really have a name. There can also be some competition. My sister and I didn't really experience a lot of that thank goodness. I grew up and went on to have twins of my own. I have a son and daughter. Because they were a boy and girl, it seemed less likely that people called them "the twins". They were pretty much known by their names. The competition crept in once in a while, but that probably happens to some degree with most siblings. Twins run fairly strong in our family. There is not much that I enjoy more then spending time with my grand children. They are so much fun and so lovable. Everyone said that grandchildren are the best and they were right. My daughter is teaching her daughter some sign language. It's a way to help communicate with the child before they are able to really speak and express what they are wanting. Here is a video of Kaelyn signing for more Cheerios. Her fine motor skills are not quite there yet, but her putting her hands together means "more". It's so cute and amazing how quickly they learn. Jon and Kate Plus 8

I am not much for TV, but there are a few shows that I enjoy sitting and watching. One of them is Jon and Kate Plus 8. It has been fun to watch their children growing up. I think the first time I watched the show, the sextuplets were just newborns. I still can't imagine how they have done it. I realize that they have had some help, but they were and are in need of it. I am a mother of twins and I know from experience that especially the first three months can be quite trying. And I am guessing it is much longer then that for 6 babies at once. It's a great show. Vacation Tours

Through out the years, my family and I always tried to take a vacation at least once a year. We have made some awesome memories in doing so. I think it is one of the greatest things a family can do together. Whether the experience is totally positive or not, you find yourselves laughing about it all, later. One trip we had taken was to Orlando Florida. The trip didn't start out so good. We were driving there and found ourselves broken down before we ever got out of town. We had a friend that loaned us his vehicle, which was very nice of him. By the second day his car had broken down in Kentucky, states away from home. We decided to plug away and continue on. After having the car repaired we were on our way again. Once we arrived in Orlando, things went much smoother. It was a wonderful trip and we even went back years later. Air Conditioning

I enjoy my time at home. I love that I have all of the comforts that make it special for me. Air conditioning is one of those comforts. I am not sure how they use to do without it. We ran into a slight problem today with ours. Our plumber was here working on running a gas line for our fireplace that is being installed. As they were getting ready to leave, I noticed that the air conditioner had kicked on, but was not blowing air. They went down and found that the blower on the furnace had frozen up. The part for it will not be here until late tomorrow or even the following day. I quickly closed all of the blinds and turned up all of the ceiling fans. It really doesn't feel to badly in here right now. I am most concerned for Zoe our Bichon. She over heats easily. She is sprawled out on the kitchen floor right now. We may have to go down stairs and spend some time if it gets to unbearable. We'll try to relax. Labels: Home

Sirius Satellite Radio

One of the most peaceful times for me is when I am able to unwind to some of the greatest Christian music from Sirius Satellite Radio. With Sirius, I am always sure to have music 24/7. The one we have purchased is portable, so we are able to bring it in the house for listening or take it with us on a road trip. There is always first-rate reception. If you find it is starting to fade, you just switch stations. It's awesome! I also thoroughly enjoy bringing up a great Christian radio station on the computer when I am posting. KNWSFM.asx is fantastic! I know most of the music and can enjoy it while singing along. Good thing I'm at home when I'm doing that singing along thing. :)

I recently was sent, what I thought, was an awesome email! There are many forwards that I feel are not worth spending my time on. This one was quite interesting. It was titled God's Pharmacy.... Amazing similarities about the foods we eat ... It told all about God's creations and how certain foods were made specifically to help certain parts of our bodies. He left us with amazing clues! Here are some of what I am talking about.

*A sliced Carrot looks like the human eye The pupil, iris and radiating lines look just like the human eye...and YES science now shows that carrots greatly enhance blood flow to and function of the eyes.
*A Tomato has four chambers and is red. The heart is red and has four chambers. All of the research shows tomatoes are indeed pure heart and blood food.

I have been enjoying doing a make over in our home these past couple of months. My husband and I find ourselves watching HGTV quite often. We pick up little tips and idea from there. They have a show, Design Star, that is on Sunday nights. It is a group of people competing against one another to become the new Design Star for a show of their own on HGTV next year. I'm very excited to see what they come up with each week. They all definitely have talent and will be successful in their careers regardless of the outcome. It's that time. Gotta go watch. The past couple of days I took sometime for myself. Every year I take several days to go down to my sister's for a visit. We usually spend a day lounging by her pool, visiting. Then we always go to a city and shop for the day. This year we went shopping at a couple of different malls. Before my leaving, Bill my husband, had told me about Hu Hot, a Mongolian grill restaurant. So we decided we would give it a try. We had lunch there. It was so good! You go around and fill your bowls with everything imaginable for a yummy stir fry. Then you watch them fry it up. They serve it with rice or what ever else you might want. It was so delicious! I will definitely go back. While shopping I found a couple of pictures for my living room, to continue with my home make-over. They were on sale for 1/2 price. I really like them. Anymore, it's not hard for my husband and I to tell when it's time once again to get new eye glasses. I find myself struggling to see the computer at work. What a wonderful weekend we have had. We went to a couple of reunions, but the best of all was when our immediate family was able to all get together for the first time since Christmas. It was a short time, but it was so sweet. Our kids from Texas were home and were traveling through close by, with Diana's family. They all came to our daughter's home and we had fun watching Emry and Kaelyn (our grand children) get to know each other. They are now eight months old and at such a cute age. The Lord has truly blessed our family.

When I have time to spend at home, I like to be comfortable. Now that it's summer time, the air conditioning sure feels great! It definitely suits our cooling needs. 4th of July!

WOW! With the Holiday weekend coming, it has sure been busy. We have plans everyday throughout the weekend. It is all fun and enjoyable, but do you ever find that it sure makes for a lot of work? I have had many details on my mind this past week. What foods should I make, what do we all need to take and provide, what should we wear, when do we have to be there and when should we leave home and the list goes on and on. I finally sat down and wrote out what I thought I could prepare for the reunions and then made out my grocery list. I needed a few things right away, so my husband was gracious enough to run to the grocery store for me today. I will have to go again tomorrow night when we get home. Like I had said, it is a lot of fun events, but there is always preparation involved with fun. That's OK, it's going to be a great time!
We will be celebrating freedom. That also reminds us of the true blessing of freedom that each and everyone of us can have in Christ Jesus. Declare your freedom through Him today!
