Blogging
Posted by Vicky
In my spare time I really enjoy doing some blogging. Not only do I post personally, but also share views on other things. There are many companies out there that give people the opportunity to make some extra cash right from their very own homes. PayPerPost, Blogitive and Payu2blog are just a few great companies that I have enjoyed doing business with. It's fun to share my thoughts on different websites, products, companies and more. My youngest son Jake is the person that first introduced me and some of my family to this great internet opportunity. I just want to say thank you Jake for opening my eyes to what was out there and available to all.
Cell Phones
Posted by Vicky
What a great way to communicate. Years ago we didn't even have cell phones. I was constantly seeking out a long distance carrier that could give us a great deal for the minutes used. We just didn't spend a lot of time on the phone. It was way to expensive. Now there are many people that are choosing to no longer have a land line and only have a cell phone. It's so nice to be able to pick up the phone and talk to my husband or kids anytime I want and for as long as I would like. These new fav 5 plans etc... make it easy. Not only is communicating easier and cheaper now, but it's also a security issue. I feel lost without my phone. If there is a need, I know I can reach someone anytime at any place. Cell Phones are an awesome invention. Labels: Technology

Comfort
Posted by Vicky
Not to often do I have the chance to sit and relax. I am making a conscious decision to do just that. Our new family room furniture came this afternoon and I am sitting here enjoying how comfortable these sofa's are. With my lap top handy and my bottled water next to me, I can spend some uninterrupted time blogging. Usually I am trying to slip in a couple of minutes here and there. It is nice and quiet at the moment. Zoe is sleeping by the front door and Bill is off at a golf tournament for the day. I was invited to come along for supper, but am choosing to relax a little bit. It doesn't happen often enough. Labels: Home
Mortgage Quotes
Posted by Vicky
There are many significant moments in one's life. Getting married was a wonderful day. Having our children was awesome and beyond words. Buying our first home was also an enormous step in our lives. Now we are walking through those situations with our children. There are so many areas to consider when purchasing a home. With the internet at your fingertips, you have a vast resource of information to assist you in the process. You can find ways to qualify for mortgage quotes, ways to improve your credit score, information on mortgage insurance and more. It is much easier then in my day where you listened to the banker and attorney and did what they told you too do. Now you can research things for yourself. Labels: Internet
Movie Time!
Posted by Vicky
One thing I do enjoy if I can set aside enough time to do it, is to watch a movie with my husband and family. You know how you have to be in the mood for a certain type of movie? Sometimes I find that I would like something suspensful and other times a comedy sounds appealing to me. What ever I feel like in the moment, I'm sure I could find a movie right at home. Between having On Demand, PPV and the DVR, there are a lot of choices. Not only that, but we have over 300 DVD's of our own to choose from. It has to be hurting the video store businesses and maybe even theaters. There are times however that we are wanting to see a new release as soon as it comes out. It's just tough to set aside time. A person needs to take a moment for them.

God Holds Us!
Posted by Vicky
This is an awesome video about how God holds us in His hands. He is big enough to be intimately acquainted with each one of us. He promises to hold us together and carry us through what ever comes our way. Looking deep with in ourselves you will find a Protein molecule called Laminin, that holds us all together. It's like the glue for our bodies. In Jesus Christ all things hold together. He is our glue! Watch and see what Louie Giglio has to say! Labels: Faith
Memory Cards
Posted by Vicky
Through out life I have always been one of those people you see holding a camera. I'm not sure why, but I just take pleasure in pictures. I have the albums to prove it. Cameras have sure changed through the years. I remember when the digital camera first came out. I actually took our old 35mm camera and the digital camera on a family vacation, because I didn't quite trust the digital. Of course I have found that it is so handy, small and convenient. We purchased several memory cards for the first digital camera we owned and now we have purchased one memory card that holds many pictures. It's so easy. I wouldn’t want to go back to the old ways. Kirkland Stores
Posted by Vicky
As I have written about several times, I am busy redoing our home. I have been trying to bring it into the 21st Century. From flooring, light fixtures, new hardware to decor, I am finding pieces and bringing it all together. Slow but sure, it is starting to feel right. One store that I have really been enjoying is the Kirkland Home Store. They have so many unique pieces to choose from. With their different color schemes and textures, you are sure to find an item that will fit in perfectly. Sometimes I walk in the store unsure of what I am even looking for and come out with new ideas. It's always fun to go. I'm hoping to get back soon. Unfortunately, I don't have a store close by. I sure wish they would have shopping online for those of us that are not near the big cities.
Laparoscopic Surgery
Posted by Vicky
Sometimes I wonder why Laparoscopic surgery has become so popular. This could be for several reasons; a person is left with less scaring, smaller incisions, therefore less chance of infection and a quicker recovery. Those reasons would appeal to me if I were seeking medical care. Whether you need vaginal surgery or reconstructive pelvic surgery, Doctors Miklos and Moore have the experience and expertise in Urogynecology. These surgeons are based out of Atlanta Georgia. They are known world wide. With standards far above the rest, they provide gynecology surgical care for women. They perform surgical procedures such as TVT Sling, Vault Suspension, Labial reduction and other types. Browse their site to learn more. Labels: Health
Crackers
Posted by Vicky
When Bill and I travel, I find that I can deal with some motion sickness at times. I have struggled with this problem since I was a child. I usually carry bottled water along, but if I continue to feel poorly, I don't dare drink to much liquid. Food will sometimes settle down my tummy, so we decided that maybe we should have a supply of crackers in the car for those uncomfortable times. There are a variety of great travel packs to choose from. Presently, I have the peanut butter on cheese crackers by Frito Lay. I can eat one or as many as I need and they are packaged up. It works out nicely. Try stocking your car for comfort.
Leptovox
Posted by Vicky
There are many people today who are over weight and wanting to find the quick fix. I think we need to be careful when checking into what might be healthy for us to try. There are many diet pills on the market such as Leptovox. You will want to be sure and do your research before trying them. Many years ago I thought I would try a diet pill and it made me very sick. So be sure and check out what you are willing to put into your body. Labels: Health
Linoleum

There are times that it is hard for people to accept change. It can make them feel uncomfortable and uneasy. They are taken from their comfort zone. Then there are other times when change is very much welcomed. Today is one of those days. We are in the process of having new flooring laid and new furniture delivered. It is extremely exciting and we are looking forward to seeing the final result. It will certainly give a different feel to our home. Zoë is a little insecure about what is going on. She has already been stepped on and pushed into the office. She has been hiding out under the futon and seems to be somewhat anxious. Her and I will hang out for the day and try to stay out of the way. Labels: Home

Well, tomorrow is the BIG day! The flooring guys should be here early and start their project for the day. Then at some point the furniture people should be coming with our new sage green sofa. Our love seat and matching chair are back ordered until early next month. It will be fun to see it all together, but I am looking forward to having at least the sofa here so I can get a feel for what else I may need in that area. It's looking like we will be going with tan, sage green and brick red or burgundy. Change is fun! I'm sure looking forward to tomorrow! Labels: Home

Biking
Posted by Vicky
I have been very busy lately between working, home and the computer. Bill and I would like to unwind. Maybe go for a bike ride. It sounds really nice right now. We would have to leave Zoe home. She probably wouldn't like that, but o'well. We realized how ever, that I no longer own a bike. Maybe we'll have to go out shopping for one. It would be good exercise, that's for sure. We'll have to see. Labels: Family

Golfing
Posted by Vicky
Last year I decided that I needed to give golfing a try. I actually went out on the course a couple of times. Bill loves golfing and would play every day if he could, so this is my dilemma. I know that I should at least try the sport, hoping that I will like it also. We could enjoy golf as we grow old together. This year Jake and Bill got me back out there again. We had a good time and I feel it is great exercise besides. I just wish I was better at it. I am not very good and struggle to hit the ball instead of the air or ground. People have told me that it will just take some practice. I'm not giving up yet. Labels: Family

Flightview
Posted by Vicky
In the past year of so, we found out about a website where you can track a flight that is in progress. It has been so nice to click in and see where my loved ones are when they are traveling. I have used this a couple of times already. You can actually see the plane in motion. From state to state you can follow along. It lets you know when they have taken off and landed. It is the neatest technology. You input information like airline, airport, flight number etc.... I am planing on using it again in the future. Check it out.
Technology
Posted by Vicky
When I think back to when I was a child, it is unreal how far technology has come. I remember having a new 13" black and white TV for our bedroom. WOW! We really thought that was all it. Then as I got older, my mom got our first microwave. It was a dinosaur and yellow in color. Cell phone, what is that? We didn't purchase our first cell phone until the mid 90's. Our children begged us to buy a computer and we finally bought one in the late 90's. How far the computers we've owned have come. And with each new computer we receive more speed, but I still find myself drumming the desk top, waiting for the screen to change. How impatient we have become. We want bigger, faster and better. Really, what is better? Labels: Home

Old Friends
Posted by Vicky
I received a letter today from an old college friend. I met her many years ago and we became great friends. We have always stayed in touch and it was great to hear from her. She was sharing about her family and all they are doing. Her two children are all grown up now and leaving the nest. Her daughter is heading off to IA State this fall and her son is leaving for the Army this week. I am sure that is very difficult to deal with. I can't quite imagine. He will start out in boot camp in Oklahoma and then transfer to Texas for a time of training. He is going to be learning about the missles and how they work. He will sit behind the scenes and deal with computers that can stop and launch missles. I am sure it will be interesting, but would hate to see my son leaving. I guess it is important that young people are willing to stand for this great country.
Dogs Are Silly
Posted by Vicky
As I have written, we have a Bichon Frise. Her name is Zoe. She can be so predictable. If it is just me and her at home, she will lay by my feet or just walk away and lay by her favorite door. If Bill is home, she is quick to be at his heels. She knows who will walk her. Every night she waits. Even if it's 9:00 PM, she will follow him around and sometimes whimper until he finally takes her around the block. I will bath and feed her, let her outside and spend time playing with her, but none of that makes up for her walk I guess. Bill seems to still be her favorite. That is unless of have food. :) Labels: Family

Grooming
Posted by Vicky
Well, today has just flown by. I started out the morning driving Zoe our Bichon over to the groomer in a near by town. Then I headed to a larger city close by, for my haircut and high lights. It was afternoon before getting out of there and I was feeling hungry. I drove through the Taco Johns they have there now. It is very nice and was very busy. I then headed to the Mall. I hadn't shopped there in quite awhile. Bath and Body was having some specials and I needed to pick up a few things. Then I walked down to Yonkers's and Penney's. I was looking for sandals, throw pillows, curtain rods and maybe clothes. There were throw pillows on sale in Penney's that were perfect, so I snatched them up. Before I knew it, it was getting late enough that I needed to head back to the groomers for Zoe. She was done and waiting for me. Off we went for home. She sure looks pretty and she has to feel better. She needs to be trimmed about every 6 weeks or so. Her hair grows quickly. I know there will be slower days to come. Labels: Travel

I was thinking back to when we purchased our first cell phone. Boy, the times have sure changed. Our first phone was very bulky and heavy. It cost us quite a bit of money and we had to sign a contract. We kept that phone for at least two years, maybe longer. Now we find ourselves buying a new model about every year. We have purchased the Blue Tooth and the Blue Ant also. I love those things! It is great to visit and still have your hands free to work or drive. Technology is amazing! Labels: Home

Prayer
Posted by Vicky
The importance of prayer needs to be known. So often we find ourselves praying when we are in need or in trouble. It should be our daily communication with our Lord and Savior. We not only should think about ourselves, family and friends, but also the many needs of others. There should be a focus on praying for the church, our region, our society, the world, missions to name a few. The list is endless. Prayer chains are a wonderful thing also. When there is a need, within minutes you can have a group of people praying and believing with you. There is strength in numbers. God is faithful even when we are not. Thank the Lord for that. We chose to go up to Minnesota last spring and joined by shopping. There were unbelievable deals on children's clothing for spring and summer. As well as toys and other items. We chose to attend on the last day when most items were 1/2 price. It was amazing. I had bags full of clothes for my grandchildren. It was fantastic! You can also sell items as a consignor and earn 70% on all item sells. It's easy to sign-up on line. As a volunteer , you are allowed to shop before the public to get the best deals. We were so pleased last spring, that we are going to be sure to attend again this fall and find all of the great fall and winter deals. I'm so looking forward to it. Pictures

I am the kind of person that totally enjoys taking pictures. I have done that kind of thing since I was in High School. There are more photo albums around my house then I am beginning to have room for. Now with digital cameras I have decided that I need to be a bit more choosy about which pictures to actually print and save. I keep most of them on CD's anyway, so if I am wanting to print one, I still could down the road. Isn't technology great?

It has been a long time since we have just sat down and watched a good movie together. We are about due for that I think. We have several here at home that we haven't seen yet and there are also new ones out on demand. Hopefully soon we can take a day and do just that.

Checking

For most of my years I have been very good about keeping the check book balanced. Over the past few years that has started to fail. I'm not really sure why, but after having a few rather large mistakes, I have decided to take better care in that area. Now each week I try to run off my statement and balance my register. It feels good to have it all caught up and correct most of the time. I will try to continue to meet my goal. Labels: Home
Furniture

I have been busy working on redoing and changing our home. My husband Bill wonders if I will ever be done. He is pretty patient with it all. He has been helping with the labor. I have been looking out over our family room and felt that there still needed to be a change. It was the furniture. It screams "Country". I am trying to get away from the country look and go more contemporary and modern. So we went shopping this past weekend and found a new sofa, love seat, chair set. They are made of that new micro-fiber material. I really like it. The set is in a sage green color. I think it will really add to the look I am trying to create. I'm excited to have it delivered this week. Labels: Home

My husband and I love to travel. We have spent some time in Mexico and enjoyed the beautiful white sand beaches and awesome sunsets. What a romantic, relaxing place. Now a days people are opting to have their weddings in beautiful places like the Riviera Maya. What a neat way to experience a wonderful, romantic, unforgettable wedding day. It can be unique with an Oceanside ceremony. They can offer flower arrangements, wedding cake, reception, photography and more. What ever it is you need. You just didn't hear of this back in my day. I think it's a wonderful idea and a great way to have a unique experience and enjoy your honeymoon vacation all at the same time.

Well, the week begins. Soon it will be the weekend. As I grew up, I was told that the older you get the quicker time flies. They were not kidding. When my children hit school age the years just flew. Especially from High School through College. Before I knew it they were all grown up and gone. Appreciate every day you have with your children. You will be glad you did. Quiet Time
Posted by Vicky
I think the Lord has been speaking to me lately. A week ago, I sat under a Pastor that spoke on slowing down and taking time to just listen to what God has for you. So often we are busy rushing around and the days fly by. We tend to have a spiritual deficit and are not even aware of it. It's kind of like if we were to become over-drawn at the bank. We need to cover the short fall, but what if there is no money to cover it? Well, when we become over-drawn spiritually, physically, emotionally or mentally, we find that we have no reserve to fall back on if we haven't given God anytime. We need prayer time, reading time as well as our time to just be quiet before Him. It can affect our marriage, family, work and every aspect of our lives. Come to Him "He will give you rest". He wants to carry our burdens. He gives strength, peace, renewal, rest and more. We just need to slow down and be silent before Him. Labels: Faith

They have been in the business since 1996 and are continuing to expand. They offer products such as Pediasure, weight vests, Blood Pressure Monitor, Shower Chair, Polar Heart Monitors and more. Our youngest son, Jake has been thinking over the possibilities of having a pet of some kind. He tossed around the idea of a ferret, but thank goodness he didn't go that route. He decided on a little kitten. After much research he found her. Her name is Mylie. She is white with different color markings on her head and tail. She is so sweet. We knew that there may be an issue with having her around my daughter and myself. We both have some allergies to pet hair. Mylie came to stay this weekend. Jake bought a FURminator bursh and Soft Claws. The brush is amazing! It leaves the kitten pretty much non shedding. The Soft Claws coat the sharp little claws with a plastic material. It' works great! You can even buy different colors so they look as though they have polished nails. It's the cutest thing. We found that Mylie brought on a little bit of an allergic reaction for me and Jenna, but not to bad. We needed to wash our hands and face some and limit holding or touching the kitten. We don't feel that we could own a kitten, but we did OK around her. She is sure a cutie and Jake is very happy with her. She's his little baby. She took to one of Kaelyn's (our grand daughter) baby blankets, so Jenna is going to send it home with her.
European Cruises

As I have spoken of many times, I enjoy travel. It is a time to relax and release some tension and stress. My husband and I have been on a couple of cruises and have thoroughly enjoyed them. We find it so convenient to unpack and stay in one room while traveling around seeing a variety of different cities. The European cruises look interesting to us also. That would be a new adventure for us if we were to take one. Maybe we will sometime.
Acne

It is tough growing up sometimes. It can be a more difficult time when dealing with acne. Many teenagers and adults alike have struggled with this issue. My son seemed to have more breakouts then did our other two children. We sought medical assistance to try and improve the situation. There are things available out there today that can help keep a healthier skin and happy person in the process.
Dog Supplies

Our dog Zoe is our little companion. She is more of my husbands dog then mine. She will hang around me some if he is not home, but when he is around, she is right at his heels. We have been having a small dilemma with some of her dog supplies. We had bought her collars and outdoor chains at the same store for several years. Now they are no longer carrying them, so it has forced us to shop elsewhere. We are still working on finding just the right size and thickness in a collar for her. Labels: Home
Prayer

Isn't it awesome how God brings different people into our lives that can help to refocus our thoughts? I, like many others can get quite wrapped up in my own life. I have been praying for all of the desires and needs within my own family and extended family, while not seeing others needs right in front of me. Recently there was a Christian gal that I came in contact with. I knew that her daughter had been having some struggles. There were health issues as well as her home that needed to be sold. We were visiting and this gal said that she was just going to stop over at the house and pray over it, claiming it to be sold! I told her that I would pray and agree with her and that we thought alike. :) I drive by this home almost everyday and it will be a reminder to me to say that prayer. My thoughts have been how I need to begin thinking beyond my own family and begin praying more for others. We are so blessed and isn't it great how God is always faithful, even when we are not.
