A friend at work has recently returned from a wonderful winter get-a-way. Her and her husband went to the Riviera Maya. It has to be one of the most beautiful white-sand beach locations. Our youngest son Jake is now on his own. They grow up so fast. He has been out of college for almost two years already. He has established a great job and career with a leading Agricultural Tractor Company. Now he is looking to purchase his first home. When looking he has decided that he is being lead towards a condo purchase. There is one that he is highly interested in at the moment. We are so excited for our oldest Son and his family. Josh is presently interviewing for 7 positions in our surrounding area. They now live 5 states away and are anxious to get back up north around family. He called and spoke with me briefly this morning and seems in high spirits. Things are going very well. We are keeping him in our prayers and know that our God is an awesome God and will lead and direct them down the correct path for their lives. Thank you Lord!

Housing Market

Boy, isn't it something how much the housing market has changed over the past couple of years. It is really sad actually. Values on homes and condos have declined. Foreclosures have grown. There are so many people today that have over extended themselves. The banks encouraged and have allowed these loans, but somewhere these people have to take responsibility also for their own actions. It isn't that difficult to sit down and work up a personal family budget. What can we afford per month? Is it beyond our limits? I'm not sure why people have not done this. They go out there and depend on their two incomes and then when one or both fail them, they are in deep financial trouble. I guess I just think differently then many. Labels: Finances

It seems like yesterday that our children were small and running around the house. Now they are all three grown up and on their own. Our youngest son is looking into buying his first home. His interest is with a condo not a house. There is one he is pretty serious about buying. Right now he is in the middle of a bidding war. Why do people even have to mess around with all of that? Winter Is Still Here

Just when we were starting to think that winter was coming to an end, the temps get cold again and the snow begins to fall. I would say we've probably gotten at least 3-4 inches already. I am pretty sure it's stopped, but now is blowing all over the place. It's not very nice and has me appreciating my warm house and a day when I don't have any where to go. Hopefully this is our last big snow and then Spring will be here soon.

Our son is about to purchase his first place and we're very excited for him. He's put in an offer last night, and we're awaiting the great news that he's got it! Once he moves in I'm sure that he will be purchasing some new things for his place. I think the first thing will be bedroom furniture...he doesn't have much right now. I happened to come across a great furniture site that offers some beautiful Discount Bedroom Furniture . In looking I realized that they also have some great deals as well. This is something our son would definitely appreciate! Who wouldn't want to buy furniture at a discounted price?!? I know I would, especially in these economic times. In checking it out, I found many pieces of furniture that I really liked, however the one which I would consider my favorite, and probably would be his as well was the more modern bedroom set with the microfiber headboard. It is absolutely beautiful (as pictured above)!
It was very user friendly, so it didn't take me long at all to find some of the things I know he's looking for. I am definitely going to have to send him over there to take a look. Our granddaugther Kaelyn loves to play and laugh with her Daddy. They've enjoyed playing "chase" and hide and seek with each other recently. I love the videos our daughter sends us, especially when she's laughing. Baby laughs are the best, aren't they?! I wanted to share the most recent one we received....aren't kids wonderful?? I don't know about you, but I sure love sweets. Candy is probably my favorite, especially this time of year with all the valentines sweets out there. Yum!! I was thinking the other day back to my childhood and some of the yummy candies we used to eat. I think one of my favorites was the Pez candies. Have you ever had them?? They are SOOO good. I found Pez candies on a website recently and couldn't have been more excited! I think it's great that you can buy things like candy online. What's even better is that it's bulk candy!! That means more candy for less cost to me. If that doesn't sound good to you, then I don't know what will. I never knew that it was possible to find candy online, so now that I do, I know I will be going back here often. Who knows, it may be even a good place to guy and buy gifts for people. When we first received our puppy Zoe, she needed to go through some training. I'm not really sure how well we did with some of that, but there are areas we did an awesome job. Maybe too good of a job if that's possible. One area is when she is needing to go outside. We trained her to know to go to the door and ring a bell that we have hung on the doorknob. Sometimes we grow weary of hearing that bell. I think she is just wanting attention or food. At times it does come in handy however.

I turned on the TV as I was preparing supper tonight. I was surprised to find that a new Survivor was starting. I don't always watch Survivor, but do seem to enjoy the show. I think I will give it a try this season. So far it seems to be interesting. They are setting up things a little bit differently. They had the tribes turn on one of their own right from the start. Planning a Winter Vacation

Bill and I have been discussing how nice it would be to take a vacation in the next couple of months. We haven't been anywhere this winter and are really starting to get the itch for something warmer and more relaxing. I don't know about you, but I've had enough of these bitter temps and snow piles taller than my car! In looking, I came across a site that would really help me in making a vacation possible. They help people find vacation rentals, hotels and bed and breakfasts. This would be perfect, as I won't have to search all over for what I'm looking for now. They have all I need and more right there on one site.
I'm not positive where we would like to go, but a couple of places caught my attention as I was browsing this site. One of which were Siesta Key vacation rentals and other was Breckenridge lodging. Both looked beautiful, but I think Siesta Key would definitely suit what we're looking for more right now. It's a place which is a lot warmer and that's the perfect option during these winter months. Breckenridge would be great another time of year though. Who knows, maybe we'll have to start taking two trips a year?!?
No matter what I choose, even if it's the Kissimmee vacation villas, I know that it will be easy to plan where I need to stay and how much it will be all right here on this site! New Computer

How long should a computer last? It seems that over the years our computers just haven't lasted as long as we'd like. Is it that they aren't made as well as before or are we harder on them within our home or office? Whatever it is, we have purchased several new computers in the past several years and, in fact, just bought another one recently. It is a laptop with the basic features plus a built in web cam. We have friends that buy computers with all of the bells and whistles but we figured we would get what we need and not something with all of the extras. We hope it lasts a long time. It seems like yesterday that we were running our daughter to piano lessons. She always seemed to enjoy learning and playing. As she grew older, she married and bought a home. We then decided it was time for her to have the piano she grew up playing on. As you can see, her daughter Kaelyn is now beginning to enjoy that very same piano. I have a feeling she'll be learning one day.

It is sad to say, but in today’s world we find that it is difficult to trust. There are people out there who do not care if they take advantage of someone or rob them blind. I have worked in the same office for twenty years now and until recently has never had an issue with theft. Our office was recently broken into and we had some things stolen. Looking at a cash drawer that would lock might be an excellent future investment for our practice. We need to think safety.

Many years ago my mother-in-law surprised me with custom rubber stamps. To this day I still have and use the one quite frequently. Church

Our church has been without a Senior Pastor for almost a year now. Recently a new Senior Pastor has started. We're very excited about the direction our church is beginning to take. We have already seen growth, with new families attending. Pastor Eric had a family emergency yesterday, so Pastor Doug was leading the service. He was quite comical and had a lot of important information to share. It was pretty much all things that we should already know and be applying to our daily lives. It was a great reminder. Interest in Tools

My youngest son has always had an interest in tools. In fact, when he first went to school he thought he might get involved in this industry. Although he took another path, he is still quite interested in all there is to do with tools. I recently came across a site and company that is a well known and highly respected router drill bits manufacturing site. I decided to check it out before sending it along to my son to take a look at.
My first impression was how user friendly it was. I enjoyed how easy it was to navigate and find what I was looking for. I also liked the tabs at the top which allowed me to easily find the products I wanted information on as well as information about the company...it was great! Whether it's plastic routing or wood boring drill bits, you're sure to find them here!!

Staying in Touch

Facebook started out as a social networking site for college students and high schoolers. It soon evolved into a network for anyone who would like to join....and that now includes people of all ages. When my kids got involved with it, they urged me to join. After a while I finally decided to and am SOO glad I did!! It is the BEST way to keep in touch with people. I have so many friends and family who I can now see pictures of and hear about all that is going on in their lives.
My favorite part is to be able to view pictures of our little grandbabies though. It's so fun to see the new things they are up to. For instance, recently both my daughter and daughter in law put pics up of each of the kids. Our Granddaughter was pictured drinking out a "big girl cup" which I thought was pretty impressive. She's growing up right before our eyes!
Our daughter in law posted many pictures of our grandson enjoying the outdoors with their new doggy. They live in a warmer climate, so it's fun for them to play outside. It looks like they were having a blast. Can't wait until they live closer so we can enjoy more time with them too.

Shopping is one of my favorite things to do. However, it can depend on what I am shopping for. If it's for a special gift and I can't find the perfect item, then it can become frustrating. Recently I was shopping for light bulbs. There are so many choices today. What type and what strength? I'm not always sure. There is the new energy saving bulbs. It's nice to have information to guide me in that type of purchase.

Our family has enjoyed traveling for many years. Now it is usually my husband and I doing the traveling. We have stayed in all kinds of hotel/motels. Some have been great luxury hotel rooms and others have been stop-over type motels. We definitely enjoy the luxury hotels. They feel so clean and well kept. We feel like we are pampered. Our winter began early this year. By Christmas time we felt as though Spring should be on it's way. Now that we have made it to early February, we know that it can't be long now. We have received a massive amount of that white stuff. It has been pushed and pushed up into our yard. The mounds of snow are piling high. Our dog isn't quite sure where she should venture. The temperatures have also been an issue. We have had week after week of sub-zero temps. That has gotten quite old. Old Man Winter go away. The warmth of spring will be much appreciated!

Well, we finally got our new Gateway laptop computer. It's sure nice to sit on the couch and post or check my email. They are the handiest thing. When we travel we tend to take it with us. This one is smaller and lighter weight, which is nice also. We recently went out and also purchased a light weight zip pouch for it. It should help to protect it from scratching and chipping while in travel. I think we're going to like it a lot.

Children's Interests...

Jenna and I were talking this past weekend about the interests children have nowadays. Both of our Grandkids love trying to get their hands on cell phones, remotes, dvd players, etc. I told her that they...our kids....never seemed to do this, and then quickly corrected myself after realizing that it was because 25 years ago we did not have cell phones and dvd players. The remote was probably of interest to them, but other than that their toys and each other were all they needed or really had. Isn't it funny how technology changes our lives in so many ways?!

Playing the Piano

Our daughter grew up loving to play the piano. So much so, that when she and her husband bought their first home....she asked if she could finally move her piano from our house to theirs. We were happy to have her do this...it wasn't being used at our house anymore. It now is a beautiful addition to their formal living room...and their daughter even loves to sit there and push the keys. She's 15 months old and such a sweetie. She is always asking mommy and daddy to put her up there so she can play. I'd love to see her do this sometime, but the picture my daughter sent is absolutely adorable and almost as good as actually being there.

Especially now with the economy struggling, many of us look for deals whenever we can. The Internet is a great place to do this, as wholesale prices and discounts can be found with some searching. My How They Grow....

It's pretty amazing to me that 15 months has past since our Grandchildren were born. Kaelyn just turned 15 months on the 1st and Emry will on the 13th. I remember with our kids the time went by quickly too...but living it all over again makes me remember exactly how fast. I seriously feel like it was just yesterday that we went to see both babies after the were born, and now 15 months later they are both walking and talking. It's been so fun to see all the changes....being a Grandparent is the best!

Sunday Fun

Yesterday was great! After church we headed up to see Jen and the family...went out to the Pizza Ranch and then babysat Kaelyn as Scott and Jen went to the movie, Taken. It was fun to have her there at the mall for a while...boy is she a busy little girl! She was walking all over the place. We brought her home, gave her a little nap and then Jen and I found some great deals at the local consignment shop they have there for baby stuff. It was fun to see them and play with Kaelyn of course....I wish we could have stayed longer as the time went by way too fast.
